Post Graduation
Post Graduation
The past week has been one of the best weeks of the semester. Two weeks ago I interview for an Emergency Management Agency position at Warren County. During the virtual interview, I felt that the interview went well but as soon as the interview ended I realized all the mistakes I made. I forgot to mention some of the experiences I wanted to mention, I had trouble getting the video started, and just felt like I could have presented a stronger case. With all of this I felt like I would not be offered the position and had to play the waiting game until I heard back. Fortunately, I received a phone call last Wednesday with an offer to accept the position! This definitely gave me a sense of relief as I am moving back home at the end of this week and did not have an official job opportunity lined up. With this out of the way, I was able to take my trip to Florida with a relaxed mindset.
My first trip to Florida was a great time! We spent time socially-distanced at the beach and enjoyed the sunshine with the knowledge that we were missing snowy weather happening back home. On Saturday, we were supposed to go parasailing and kayaking through the mangroves but unfortunately due to high winds the trips were cancelled due to safety reasons. These were are the plans we had made for the day so we now had a completely free day and were slightly sunburnt so another beach day was not what we were hoping for. Looking for a dolphin cruise or something similar, we ended up on a Pirate Cruise. Which we learned was definitely geared towards younger children, but still had a great time with the crew and seeing dolphins in the harbor. The cruise ended up being one of the best parts of the trip just based on the interactions we had with the crew.
When I got home from Florida, I had a package waiting for me. It was my cap and gown for the graduation ceremony next weekend. Which was exciting to unpack and know that I am merely days away from officially graduating with my masters degree!
Tonight, I also presented my capstone. I felt like the presentation went well and there was a good discussion afterwards. With that taken care of, I have one paper left to finish and a final exam standing between me and graduation. Jeff Iker was right six years ago at my freshman convocation that "you're gonna love NKU". I have absolutely loved my time as a member of Norse Nation and believe I would not be graduating with my Masters Degree or be as prepared for my next chapter without all of these experiences I have had due to NKU.
