Courses & Projects
Hi All,
Hope everyone's semester is off to a great start. With an extra class this semester, I am much busier than in the fall. It's all good, though! This week I wanted to share a little with you about the type of projects that kept me so busy. What projects do you have this semester? Anything that you are particularly excited for? I would love to hear about them, and maybe share about it and your experience on here!

As I have mentioned in a previous blog, I am taking 3 classes this semester. I took 2 in the fall, and this extra class really makes me stay on top of my schedule. In Organizational Behavior and Theory, we have been doing the majority of our learning through discussion boards. I have enjoyed this because some of our topics have been fairly easy to comprehend and in a perfect world easy to apply to organizations. The discussion boards have allowed classmate to apply these topics to our places of employment, national/local news, and to suggest implementation ideas. It helps show how these topics can relate back to us, in a non-perfect world. Terrorism has provided the information and discussions to understand terrorism from different perspectives. We have looked the causes, how it has evolved, how it affects individuals and countries, and more. Every week it seems we have come to new a conclusion, only to find another piece of the puzzle. Lastly, in Research Methods we have started on a couple different big projects. The first being interviews of research professors. We each had to interview one professor that does research (most do). This was enlightening to learn about how the research project works, where ideas come from, the different struggles involved, and why they continue to do what they do, among other things. The second is the literature review and research design. At first this sounded like an overwhelming project, but now that I have dived in, this is actually really interesting. We had to develop a topic to research, then complete a literature review and design how to research this topic. My topic is about Student Perceptions of Conceal Carry Campuses, and specifically I want to compare perceptions on campuses with conceal carry in place and campuses that are weapon free. I know other students were looking at customer satisfaction at their gym, and gaps in services provided to the homeless in the area.
Graduate Assistant Projects
Outside of classes, I am working on a couple different projects for the department. A big one that I excited for is the new MPA recruitment videos. We are working on filming students, faculty, and alumni to include in this video. This has been in the works for some time, and it's exciting to officially get started. Another project that I just started is research about intimate relationships within the workplace. Dr. Ahmed and I are going to be looking what makes good practices, and see how these can be implemented to businesses throughout the local area. These two have/will take much of my time, but I am still working on other projects. Keep a look out for a future PASS event, among other things!
