Capstone Experience Update
Capstone Experience Update
Sorry for missing a blog post last week. I was putting all my focus on my capstone. As you may or may not know, my capstone project started as writing a $10 million grant for a nonprofit organization. When I began to dive into writing the grant, it was realized that the initial submission was due in April 2020. After this realization and talking with the capstone advisor, my capstone became finding a new grant for this organization and submitting that application.
There are a ton of grants out there, but meeting their requirements can be a challenge. I spent a ton of time trying to find a grant that would match the needs of the organization. Well the good news I found one the first week of March! The downside was that it was due this morning (March 17th). I quickly got to work with my fingers crossed that it would get done in time. There were some roadblocks and challenges along the way including word counts, gathering all the needed supporting documents, and getting approval on the application. BUT it all worked out and I was able to submit the grant application on Monday night.
Along with getting the application submitted, I was working on my capstone paper. I highly suggest to anyone getting ready to take their capstone course not to delay working on their capstone paper. I had gathered on my graded papers and assignments ahead of time but if I didn't have these writing my paper would have been very challenging. Anyways, I spent last week writing/finalizing my capstone paper and submitting the grant application. I felt like all I did the past two weeks was write, write and write some more. Every time I looked at the clock I couldn't believe how much time had past and how much I still wanted to write, include or change. It is certainly a relief to have the major portion of my capstone project completed and to have my paper submitted.
